About
Beer sweet beer. That’s what the site is about. It is a chronicle of my great enjoyment of water, barley malt, and hops—with a special emphasis on Colorado beers, since that is where I live.
My name is David. Beerheart is my nom de plume. My history with beer is probably common, the journey from swill-water to craft brews.
I remember pitching in to buy a keg of Michelob Dark around 1988 at a frat party in college. I thought that was heaven—and it was compared to $4 cases of Schaeffer! After graduation, I became exposed to far better beers. The epiphany occurred for me in a little pub in Philadelphia in 1992 with some college friends. We tried a Henry Weinhard’s, probably the Private Reserve. It was far and away the best beer I’d ever had. Haven’t had anything approximating a Budwater since then.
The love of fine brew grew, especially on several business trips to London and on one trip to Luxembourg. It was in Luxembourg that I discovered the Belgian ales. Every night for a week I sat at a different restaurant on the city square enjoying fine food and great beer.
Now, I try new beers continually. I host beer tastings 2-3 times a year for my friends. I’ve begun this site with the hope of helping you to enjoy better beers. I’ll focus on beer news, beer tasting education, and also on the great Colorado beers.
Oh, and I’m an ordained minister in the Church of Beer. I probably can’t marry you, unless you want to get married to beer—and in that case, we probably have to hold the ceremony in international waters.
